A small region located in the north eastern part of the peninsula is the most outstanding wine-growing area in Spain. Its production, Rioja wine, figures among the finest wines in the world.
Visit: Logroño and Haro
Logroño, a Roman river port and part of the Route of St. James, is today the capital of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja.
Haro, around which are located the better part of the winegrowers, is the regions most important viticultural centre. Its life revolves almost exclusively around wine, with which the natives happily dowse one another on the major feast day, aptly known as "the battle of the wine".
