Day 1:
The adventure begins in Málaga, a city in the Andalusia region of Spain on the Mediterranean.  After a sumptuous dinner, we’ll study the night sky and learn how to use a star map. Ancient people once thought the stars were lanterns held by the gods. We’ll trace out the arc of the zodiac, and watch the trajectory of the various constellations as they rise and fall across the night sky.

Day 2:
For those up early, we’ll take a peek at the dawn sky and visible planets. After breakfast, we’ll head for Ronda, an old Moorish town known for bullfights, Hemingway and the dramatic ravine, EL TAJO. For those interested in astrology, we’ll look at the natal and current astrological chart and learn how the chart represents the sky from the perspective of earth. Later, when the sun goes down, we’ll review the visible zodiac constellations and the bright night stars.

Day 3:   Today we’ll visit an extraordinary cave painted with numerous drawings and view some of the oldest pieces of pottery and human bones ever found in Europe. In astrology, we’ll examine the influence of the Sun, Moon and Ascendant in the natal chart. After dinner, we’ll continue our survey of the night sky and observe the rising and setting of the constellations.

Day 4: Today we head to the village of Villanueva de la Concepción and climb to El Torcal, one of Europe’s most spectacular limestone formations. If the day is clear, across the Mediterranean we’ll see Morocco and the sands of Africa. Back at Humana House, we’ll learn the symbolism of the planets, and later, when the sky grows dark, we’ll look for planets amongst the stars in the sky.

Day 5: We head once more for Málaga and visit the Picasso Museum. The afternoon is free to dine and shop and explore the city. Later, in astrology and star-gazing, we’ll learn the myths and stories that accompany the 12 zodiacal constellations.

Day 6: Our adventure today is to an Olive Oil mill and a trip to Almeria. In astrology, we’ll see how the planets channel the signs and act-out their houses. After dinner, we’ll tour a night sky that will now be familiar to us.

Day 7: Today we visit the corn oak grove, known as Los Alcornocales Natural Park and witness the extraction of bark from the oak which yields cork. In astrology, we’ll learn the fundamentals of chart interpretation. In star-gazing we’ll test our knowledge of the first and second magnitude stars and the constellations on and off the zodiac.

Day 8: On our final field trip, we’ll travel back in time as we traverse the coastal road to Zahara de los Atunes and Barbate. We’ll visit Roman ruins in Bolonia, a town developed 2000 years BC as a maritime link to Tangier. In astrology, we’ll look at methods of prediction and the use of transits and progressions to anticipate impending astrological weather. Following our farewell dinner, we’ll take one last look at the Alalusian sky and find the stars and constellations that influence our psyche and the direction of our journey in this life.

Day 9:  Departures In the morning, we will leave Spain, but take it with us, wherever we go, forever. Note: We can’t learn everything there is to know about Spain, astronomy or astrology in a week, not even in an entire lifetime. Hopefully the workshops and tours will stimulate a desire to investigate these areas more deeply. For those interested, throughout the tour, there will also be an opportunity to practice yoga (for more information, see the Yoga tour).
